I Need Some Help

Okay, my blogger friends. I want to pick your brain about something. I have a friend who has an 18-month-old daughter, Abby Rose, in the hospital and will probably be there through February. She is on a ventilator and has crashed at least 3 times, maybe more. Here's where I need help. My sister and I want to do some sort of fundraiser for the family. They do have insurance, but it will not cover everything. To give you an idea of how expensive this is going to be for them, the baby was transported by helicopter to the Children's Hospital only 12 minutes away from here. The bill for that alone is $15,255!!!!!!

My sister and I did a BBQ fundraiser a few years ago where we asked local restaurants to donate food. It went over pretty well. I think we raised $400-$500, I don't remember exactly. We may do that again, but I just wanted some other ideas as well.

I have seen on other blogs where someone was raising money and they took donations directly through the blog. I'm not sure that's what I want to do, but if alot of people are open to it, I would give it a try.

So, your help would be appreciated. If you are interested in learning more about Abby and her family, we have a Facebook page set up for her....Pray for Abby Rose.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  1. OH the poor little thing! Hm...fundraiser...ask around at stores in your area if they'd let you put out donation jars on the counters, with Abby's picture and a bit of her story. You'd probably have to visit them once a week or so and empty the jars. Banks are another good place to ask. I'll give it some more thought hon. And for sure I'll be praying.

  2. How about raffling off a quilt? That is something you can do on your blog. You could also gather donations of items and raffle off gift baskets locally.

  3. Aleisha, I'm really late reading this, but....I think Robin has a good idea, too. Maybe you could ask your blogger friends if they would like to donate handmade items to you and then you could put together gift baskets and raffle them off...on your blog but also at other local events that you all might have. You could put some of them in your store, for example. I would be more than willing to make some bags for you... just say the word and I'll get busy!

I will definitely keep Abby Rose and her family in my prayers!
